Steamboat Springs is located in Northwest Colorado, about 160 miles northwest of Denver. Also called Ski Town USA® and known for its World Class skiing facilities, Steamboat Springs was originally a summer resort. Travelers in the early 1900s visited Steamboat Springs in the summer months for the natural hot springs and vast hunting and fishing opportunities. Today summer activities span the spectrum, with three championship golf courses, an indoor-outdoor tennis center, biking, hiking, kayaking, fly fishing, and horseback riding right in town.
Nearby reservoirs, rivers, wilderness, and four Colorado State Parks also provide excellent boating, fishing, camping, and rafting. Throughout the summer months, Steamboat hosts a ProRodeo series every weekend mid-June through late August, as well as several chamber music, jazz, bluegrass and popular music concerts, an opera, art galleries and historical landmarks. Steamboat Springs’ most popular summer events are the Fourth of July Cowboys’ Round Up Days and Rainbow Weekend’s Balloon Rodeo and Art in the Park.
